critics N bla bla..!!

This banner is lack of contrast. The main title for this banner is not obviously highlighted. 'Perhimpunan Majlis Pertauliahan Kor SISPA' is not using a bright colour font and as the result, the words look dull. The details of the programme also dull and it is not attractive. The banner is balance as the picture and the line has the same weight.

This poster is specially dedicated to the Sarawakian who studied in UiTM Shah Alam. But now, i want to highlight about the design itself. This poster has its own mass. The word 'Juh Berambeh' has the biggest mass on this poster. Mass is one of the basic elements of design. Mass is size. There is physical size and visual size. Size can be relative. Other than that, this poster is a balance poster. It has the same weight between right and left. Therefore, it is a good poster as it can give audience a clear information about the programme.

Rhythm!!

Rhythm is a pattern created by repeating elements that
are varied. Repetition (repeating similar elements in a
consistent manner) and variation (a change in the form,
size, or position of the elements) are the keys to visual
rhythm.

Placing elements in a layout at regular intervals creates
a smooth, even rhythm and a calm, relaxing mood.
Sudden changes in the size and spacing of elements
creates a fast, lively rhythm and an exciting mood.

The example of Rhythm:

The image above is a very good example of rhythm. It portrays smooth looking desert hills due to the continuous smooth lines that are drawn. If  look closely, we may even see that it may look like it is being moved by the wind.

How to create balance in design?

1) Repeat a specific shape at regular intervals, either
horizontally or vertically.

2) Center elements on a page.

3) Put several small visuals in one area to balance a single large image or block of text.

4) Use one or two odd shapes and make the rest regular
shapes.

5) Lighten a text-heavy piece with a bright, colorful visual.

6) Leave plenty of white space around large blocks of
text or dark photographs.

Differences between symmetrical and asymmetrical balance.

vertical symmetry balance

Vertical Symmetry

Each vertical half (excluding text) of the poster is a near mirror image of the other, emphasized with the reverse in colors. Even the
perfectly centered text picks up the color reversal here. This symmetrically balanced layout is very formal in appearance.

Asymmetrical balance

Asymmetrical

This poster typically off-center or created with an odd or mismatched number of disparate elements. The two actor were sitting more to left site. When the left and right sides of the design are unequal it is said to have asymmetrical balance. Moreover, asymmetrical does not necessarily mean unbalanced.

What Is Graphic Design?

Good design makes a difference in our world. Whether it’s communicating a social ideal, helping a business attract clients, motivating people to join an organization, enabling citizens to vote for the candidate of their choice, or simply helping travelers find their way through a busy airport, good design means connection.

Graphic design combines the creativity and formal characteristics of fine art with the audience-centered approach of marketing to create effective visual communications. Unlike fine art, it is always in the service of the client’s needs.

Much more than simply “making things look pretty,” graphic design uses
color, typeand

composition to communicate with the chosen audience. (Chairril, 2010)
